Remote Witnessing for Wills to Become Law

During Covid-19 Wills and signatures have been deeply affected due to law firms not being able to gain in person signatures through their usual operations.

However, there has been some welcome news from the Government recently stating that they will allow wills to be witnessed remotely for the next two years in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Currently under the 1837 Wills Act, two witnesses’ signatures – made in the physical presence of the testator – are required for a will to be valid in England and Wales,” said Law Society of England and Wales president Simon Davis.
